YouTube Copyright: Protect the Record Behind Your Work

A claim on a video you made yourself is a records problem before it is a legal one. The platform asks what you have; most creators have the finished upload and nothing behind it.

What a platform claim is, and is not

A copyright claim on a platform is that platform applying its own process. It is not a court ruling, and Enigma has no part in it.

Enigma cannot file a dispute for you, cannot contact YouTube on your behalf, and cannot promise how any claim is resolved. What it can do is make sure you are not assembling your evidence after the claim arrives.

What to record before you publish

Record the original footage, the project file or edit, and the final cut you actually uploaded. Each one is dated and fingerprinted at the moment you record it.

If a question comes later about which version existed first, you have a sequence rather than a memory.

Sharing the record with someone who has no account

Every receipt has a public address at /verify/<code>. Anyone can open it without logging in, and it names each public network that confirmed the recording.

That matters when the person checking is a platform reviewer or a lawyer who will not create an account to look at your evidence.

Questions people ask

Can Enigma remove a copyright claim on my video?
No. Enigma does not contact platforms, file disputes, or influence how a claim is handled. It keeps the record you may be asked for.
Does YouTube accept an Enigma receipt?
That is YouTube’s decision and we do not speak for them. A receipt is evidence you can supply; whether any particular process accepts it is not something we can promise.
What should I record for a video?
The original footage, the edit or project file, and the final cut you published. The sequence is what shows the work developing under your control.

Enigma records creator assertions and supporting evidence. Enigma is not the U.S. Copyright Office, does not register copyright, and does not determine authorship or ownership.
